Ruth was a very dear friend. We enjoyed many years of playing canasta and other card games along with long conversations and so much fun!
Ruth and I used to go to town every Saturday and go shopping at Bealls. We also enjoyed eating out at lunch on Saturdays.
Ruth was a talented artist who painted the bluebonnets around my tank on canvas. One of my favorites was a sketch of the big snow and ice on my tank.
Although she was outspoken, she was a compassionate person who loved deeply.
I will miss you forever my friend!
Grandma, I miss you so much.
You were, and always will be, such an important part of my life. I am so grateful that you were my grandma, my Wewe. You were truly the best grandma anyone could ask for.
I loved how you learned sign language just for me and used it every time we were together. I can still picture you, with your eyes looking up to the right and your finger resting on your lips as you tried to recall a sign you didn’t use often. Those moments were so special, and they showed just how much you cared.
I can’t help but giggle when I think about the time I fooled you with that special effects makeup, making it look like I had busted my knees real bad. You were so mad, ready to call the school and give them a piece of your mind for not taking care of me—until you realized it was all just makeup and I was just pulling your leg. Your love and protectiveness meant the world to me.
After school, I always looked forward to coming home to you. You’d have Oreos and milk ready, and the TV set to the right channel so I could watch Quantum Leap before starting my homework. Those simple moments meant everything to me.
Your sweet goofiness made me laugh often. You had a way of brightening my day, and I’m so thankful for that.
I will never forget your oversized rose-colored sunglasses—they were your signature look, and they made you... you. I loved that about you.
Thank you for everything, Grandma. I’m so proud of you, and I promise to keep living in a way that would make you proud of me too. Until we meet again, Wewe.
I love you more than words can say.
